BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Miranda is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Medical Director of the Diabetes Education Department at the Diabetes Research Institute.
Dr. Miranda obtained her medical degree in Panama, Rep. of Panama. She completed Internal medicine residency and fellowship in Endocrinology at Jackson Memorial Hospital- University of Miami. Dr. Miranda joined the faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2005. Her clinical interest is Diabetes and its complications. In addition to patients with classic type 1 and type 2 Diabetes, she also treats patients with Cystic Fibrosis-related Diabetes, Post-transplant Diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy and provides expertise in managing patients with complex insulin regimens, carbohydrate counting, insulin pump therapy and glucose sensors. Dr. Miranda has been an advocate for Diabetes education and has been actively involved in developing programs directed to patients, physicians, and other health care providers at our institution. She is currently responsible for coordinating structured academic teaching to Endocrinology fellows, making sure they get proper training in new monitor and therapeutic technologies as well as in the management of high risk Diabetes patients.
